Matthew A. Dooley

Mr. Dooley concentrates his practice upon litigation matters stemming from business, healthcare, environmental, and governmental controversies. In that regard, he has successfully:

  • Represented multi-million dollar health care provider regarding federal Stark and Anti-Kickback claims

  • Represented non-profit association in multi-million dollar contractual dispute arising from allegations of fraud

  • Represented non-profit association in environmental matter stemming from allegations of negligence and statutory violations of EPA regulations

  • Represented international corporations in complex litigation stemming from federal import/export regulations, patent infringement, and contractual disputes

  • Represented multi-million dollar corporation in complex litigation filed by minority shareholder alleging breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract

  • Represented private landowner in federal eminent domain action filed by national gas utility pursuant to the National Gas Act

  • Represented numerous water authorities in matters stemming from appropriation powers, contractual disputes, and construction of infrastructure

  • Represented political subdivision in litigation stemming from allegations of negligence

  • Represented international real estate investment trust in complex earn-out dispute stemming from multi-million dollar purchase of Midwest shopping centers
Mr. Dooley also devotes a significant portion of his time to pro bono matters, including the representation of abused and neglected children as a court-appointed guardian ad litem.

Born in Roanoke, Virginia, Mr. Dooley received a B.A. degree in political science from Hampden-Sydney College, in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. He then received a J.D. degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, in Miami, Florida, where he served as a member of the Moot Court Board, a Dean's Fellow, and a Legal Writing Instructor.
